Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics PDF Print E-mail

More than merely seeking to make a profit, our social commitment means we must act responsibly for our common future, a future we form part of as a member of society. We are aware that we can do most for society by contributing to its financial prosperity, creating job opportunities, investing capital. In short, through our day-to-day work, the company is having a profound and positive impact on society, based on a respect towards the principles of sustainable development which we undertake as a commitment.

altMore than merely seeking to make a profit, our Corporate Social Responsibility and social commitment mean we must act responsibly for our common future, a future of which we form part as a member of society. We are aware that we can do most for society by contributing to its financial prosperity, creating job opportunities, investing capital. In short, through our day-to-day work, the company is having a profound and positive impact on society, based on a respect towards the principles of sustainable development which we undertake as a commitment.
Based on that same principle of corporate social responsibility, we feel that it is our duty to make certain basic inescapable commitments:
- Corporative ethical principles and behaviour, both for our staff as well as with our clients, collaborators, distributors and suppliers.
- Respect towards the environment and a guarantee of sustainable progress and development.
- Responsible business management encompassing a goal of viability which safeguards future development of a project which began in 1929.

Our commitment towards responsibility is not only towards the area in which we work, but also extends to cover the origin of our raw materials. We are aware that we have a duty, together with other companies in the sector, with regard to the working, social and ethical conditions of those who are involved in the production and gathering of the herbs we use. We believe that everybody working in the organisation, from the producers in the various countries around the world to those involved in production at the headquarters, must have their personal and work rights guaranteed, in strict compliance with the current legislation in force in each country.
Since the company was founded, LABORATORIOS SANOR SA has maintained an unaltered staff policy based on the long-term hiring of all its workers from the moment they join the firm, coupled with a fair pay policy for all its employees dependent upon the position they hold and the number of years they have been working with the firm, without any discrimination for reasons of sex, and strictly upholding all work rights, in terms of shifts, working hours, breaks, holidays, and so on, as well as aiding compatibility between family and working life. Prominent in this commitment is our active training policy at all levels of the firm.

Finally, management concern regarding health and safety in the workplace is reflected in the inclusion of every kind of individual protection equipment and safety system in machinery and production processes used, an effort which has led to the total absence of any serious work related accidents throughout the company’s history.

History

The history of LABORATORIOS SANOR dates back to 1929 when the company was set up under the name of Infusiones SUSARÓN, a family business founded by D. Froilán Rascón Reyero. Taking advantage of the natural resources to be found in the mountains of Leon, he personally selected the various medicinal herbs which grew around the Susarón crag located in Puebla de Lillo, León (to which it owes its name). The products were sold at the “FEVE” narrow gauge railway station in the town of Boñar to travellers aboard the Trans-Cantabrian line when trains made their daily stop at the town.
